Building the Philanthropic Engine of the Recovery Movement
Global Recovery Initiatives
Global Recovery Initiatives (GRI) is building the philanthropic engine of the recovery movement—an urgent, long-overlooked frontier in the response to substance use disorder. While public resources have traditionally focused on prevention, harm reduction, and treatment, the lifelong journey that follows treatment remains critically underfunded. Recovery is not merely abstinence; it is the ongoing process of restoring the gifts, talents, and sense of purpose that substance use disorder once obscured. It is the rebuilding of families, careers, community connection, confidence, and joy. By supporting peer networks, coaching, mental health services, collegiate recovery programs, workplace initiatives, and recovery-centered communities, philanthropy has the power to transform lives at the very moment people begin to rebuild. GRI brings together donors, partners, advocates, and recovery leaders to strengthen this essential infrastructure—funding innovation, shifting narratives, and ensuring that every person in recovery has the opportunity not only to survive, but to thrive. Celebrate recovery not in silence, but in strength. Fund recovery not as charity, but as empowerment.
